Interventional Cardiology - Program Info

Training in interventional cardiology is limited to applicants who have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited cardiovascular disease program or its equivalent.

Fellows planning to perform interventional cardiology procedures (i.e. percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty, athethectomy, coronary stentings, and intracoronary diagnostic procedures) are recommended to undergo a minimum of one additional year of training following successfully completing a cardiology fellowship residency. As advanced cardiology fellows they are expected to have fully completed the required level II training in the diagnostic cardiac catheterization and coronary angiography prior to starting an interventional cardiology fellowship.

Our program is in full compliance with the basic training standards developed by the ACC Task Force of the revised Core Cardiology Training in adult cardiovascular medicine (COCATS 3) and satisfies the ACGME requirements for residency education in interventional cardiology.
