The Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program at Einstein Healthcare Network (Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia) is a full-time, ASHP-accredited residency program. The PGY1 pharmacy residents at Einstein Healthcare Network receive balanced and comprehensive training to prepare them to play a vital role in the care of patients.
Upon completion of the program, the pharmacist will be a competent practitioner able to provide a broad range of pharmaceutical services, including pharmaceutical care and drug therapy management. The pharmacist will independently and confidently manage patient disease states and the drug therapies as a key member of the healthcare team. The pharmacist will also develop the necessary skills for educating patients and other healthcare professionals on drug therapy and serving as a preceptor to pharmacy students.
Throughout the program, the resident will demonstrate professional maturity by monitoring his or her own performance, by becoming a self-directed learner and by showing commitment to the profession of pharmacy.
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program at Einstein Healthcare Network offers residents unique patient care experiences and other opportunities. Residents currently provide direct patient care in the hospital's Immunodeficiency clinic (IDC), coordinate the hospital's outpatient anticoagulation consult service, and receive BLS and ACLS certifications.
