Resident Education is the guiding principle in the Department of Orthopedics at Einstein Healthcare Network. The dynamics of the educational goals and objectives for the residency program are directed towards the development of an exceptional physician.

Our Orthopedic Residency Program is a five-year categorical program and fully meets the training requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Residency Review Committee and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Einstein Healthcare Network is a major teaching affiliate of Jefferson Medical College/Thomas Jefferson University. Senior medical students from medical schools throughout Philadelphia and across the United States complete elective rotations in Einstein's Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

Board-Certified and Fellowship trained Orthopedic surgeons anchor the teaching program, bringing residents their expertise in such diverse areas as:, foot and ankle surgery, pediatric orthopedic surgery, spinal surgery, biomechanics, neuromuscular disorders, orthopedic oncology, arthroscopy and sports medicine, hand, shoulder and elbow surgery, joint replacement and reconstruction, orthopedic trauma, and orthopedic rehabilitation.

Research is an integral component of orthopedic resident education at Einstein Healthcare Network. The Department of Orthopedic Surgery Bioengineering Laboratory is fully equipped and located on the Einstein campus for basic science projects.

The Department employs a full-time research scientist to oversee basic science and clinical research projects.

Graduates of our program have been accepted for subspecialty Fellowship training at prestigious institutions throughout the country. The following is a brief overview of recent fellowship positions accepted by Einstein Healthcare Network's Orthopedic Surgery resident graduates.
