High Risk Pregnancy

At Einstein Healthcare Network, our physicians are known for their ability to care for people with high-risk pregnancies and their babies. In fact, our team has been able to save the lives of more mothers in distress than any other facility in the city of Philadelphia.

Throughout their pregnancy, patients are cared for by our maternal-fetal team. All appointments are done in comfortable, private office settings, where the specialists provide a high level of care for patients experiencing situations including gestational diabetes, birth defects, pregnancy over age 30, genetic diseases, or conditions that stem from drug use, alcohol abuse or smoking, or physical injuries during pregnancy.

Your team may consist of physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives, nutritionists and counselors. Together, you'll decide the best course of action for your unique situation.

About 12% of all babies born throughout the Einstein Healthcare Network will receive services at our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We continue to work to improve the lives of mothers and babies across our entire patient population.

Education & Support

In the U.S., the incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is on the rise, particularly among Native American, Asian, Hispanic and African American women. For mothers with gestational diabetes, Einstein provides nutrition counseling throughout pregnancy.
