Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition among males of all ages. Einstein's expert urology specialists have diagnosed thousands of cases of ED, and will work closely with you or your loved one to develop a personalized treatment plan to help restore sexual function.
ED may develop gradually or become a sudden and persistent condition, and is characterized by the inability to achieve or maintain an erection long enough for satisfactory sexual performance despite maintaining sexual desire and the ability to ejaculate.
ED may be caused by age, diabetes, heart or vascular disease, prostate cancer or other conditions. It may also be an early warning sign of cardiac problems such as atherosclerosis, so if you have ED, it's important to consult an Einstein urology specialist.
Einstein offers a full range of nonsurgical and surgical ED treatments, including:
- Diet and lifestyle changes
- Prescription medications
- Vacuum constriction (erection) devices
- Herbal therapies
- Intraurethral suppositories
- Intracavernous injections
- Inflatable or malleable penile implant
- Vascular reconstruction surgery to improve penile blood flow or reduce
blood leakage
Penile Implants
Einstein Urology is one of the top 20 departments in the country for penile implants. During a brief surgery, a three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis placed into the penis, along with a pump placed in the scrotum. This procedure can be used to restore erections where other types of treatment have failed.
